Capaldi, who will depart the TARDIS in this year's Christmas Special, revealed that he has just finished filming Doctor Who Series 10 and also dropped this juicy nugget:

"I have done the death of my character

I can't tell you what's going to happen but it's going to be very interesting."

Sadly, the outgoing Time Lord didn't elucidate on what he meant by that but, as he informed Mr Norton, Peter still has the Doctor Who 2017 Christmas Special to film.

This will be his final episode as the Twelfth Doctor. Norton asked why he chose now to leave the role, Peter replied:

"Doctor Who is a great job but it's a bit of a television factory. You do twelve episodes a year and I just worry that I wouldn't be able to continue doing my best work.

Because I like to be able to learn the lines and do some preparation and come in and give it the vigour and fun. And not hate it.

So I just thought, leave."
